After being stuck in the Atlanta airport for over nine hours yesterday, I finally arrived to Louisville, Kentucky for the international Young Adult Volunteer Program orientation. Fortunately, two other west coast YAVs (Young Adult Volunteer) and I had each other's company while waiting for our flight. Unfortunately, the orientation is moving full speed, and I did not have an opportunity to recover from yesterday's travel, which lasted over 20 hours. However, I enjoy seeing all of the international YAVs for the second time (there's about 40 of us with sites in India, Peru, Northern Ireland, Kenya, and Guatemala) because everyone has interesting stories and is together in the shared bond of simultaneous excitement and nervousness for our upcoming year of service. It's strange to realize that I have left home and will not be back until August 2009.
Now, I must go to enjoy the lovely cafeteria of Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary for dinner. I'll give more interesting updates when possible!
